ARM Resource Manager / Central Configuration (ARM 1.2.X)

This workshop is recommended for WMIS customers. The format is lecture with demonstrations. Handouts will be provided.

Several WMIS system administration windows and all of ARM System Administration windows were migrated to ARM Central Configuration in ARM 1.2 and additional windows were added in ARM 1.2 and later releases to support the ARM products, specifically the new ARM Optimizer, ARM Scheduler and RTARM Mobile applications. This workshop will focus on the resource management, work request type template and organization structure and ARM Scheduler, ARM Optimizer and RTARM Mobile configuration aspects of ARM Central Configuration. The intent is to provide a solution centric view of the system administration, reference data and resource management data configuration process, rather that an application centric view. This workshop is recommended for all system administrators and support personnel who are or will be responsible for the data configuration for one or more ARM applications for ARM 1.2 and later releases. This workshop is also recommended for the schedulers, controllers and field supervisors responsible for managing persons, vehicle/equipment items and crews who are or will be using ARM Optimizer, ARM Scheduler and the scheduling aspects of the ARM Web Portal for ARM 1.2 and later releases. Specific emphasis will be placed on the data configuration requirements for ARM Scheduler, ARM Optimizer and RTARM Mobile.

Thursday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Overview of ARM Central Configuration - Discussions and demonstrations of the new user interface, the key components of ARM Central Configuration and what functionality is available in ARM Central Configuration and WMIS, including the dependencies between the applications.

Demonstration of ARM Resource Manager

  • Discussion and demonstration of the configuration and administration features utilized by the Resource Manager, including scheduling engine router rule configuration, organization and geographic management, skill types, resource classes, operational qualification and certification types, vehicle/equipment types and calendars. Utilization of the information within ARM will be emphasized, including an identification of what data is required and used by other ARM applications.
  • Discussion and demonstration of the resource management capabilities, including managing people, vehicle/equipment items and standard company and contractor crews.

Daily Schedulable Crew, Person and Vehicle/Equipment Management

  • Discussion and demonstration of the schedulable crew management process completed via the Crew Management window for the update of date specific availability, area assignments, resource class and skill type assignments and crew complement modifications. The emphasis of this session is on the "day of" and short term changes made to schedulable crews as resource availability and workload information becomes available. The target audience - are the controllers, schedulers and field supervisors responsible for scheduling and managing the completion of the field work. The utilization of the date specific schedule crew and person data by each of the ARM scheduling engines (ARM Optimizer, ARM Scheduler, ARM Web Portal) will be emphasized to provide an understanding of what data is used and the impact of the changes to the scheduling engines in order to maximize the effectiveness of the data configuration process.
  • Discussion and demonstration of date specific working time and person, calendar and vehicle/equipment item activity and absence management for "day of" and future dates. The creation of multiple activities or absences for multiple resources and dates via the Activities and Absence Management window will be highlighted.

Friday, 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Work Request Template Configuration - Discussions and demonstrations of the changes to the work request type template configuration process, with specific emphasis on the new data and how and when the data is used by other ARM applications.

Workflow and Monitoring Events - Discussion and demonstrations of workflow and monitoring event and trigger configuration and how the events are used by WMIS, ARM Optimizer and ARM Scheduler.

RTARM Mobile, ARM Optimizer and ARM Scheduler Support - Discussion and demonstration of the data used by RTARM Mobile, ARM Optimizer and ARM Scheduler for the work request and work component field work status update process, safety messages, host inquiries, form, form group and form field registration and ARM Scheduler dispatch rules.
