Keeping the traffic information flowing for the Swedish Road Administration
Swedish Road Administration choose Logica for traffic information services
The Swedish Road Administration (SRA) is the authority responsible for running and maintaining the 100,000 kilometre road network around Sweden. A key element in their strategic plan to keep traffic flowing easily and safely is reliable and highly accurate traffic information.
To achieve this they wanted an effective system that would enable them to improve data exchange within Sweden and with the Traffic Information Centres (TICs) of bordering countries. Better quality data for service providers would enable them to develop and create new traffic information services.
SRA turned to Logica who have proven experience in developing and maintaining traffic information systems, particularly where there are a number of agencies and third parties involved.
The original solution implemented by Logica was based on DATEX. This standardised format for exchanging information across borders and in a language-independent way, is being developed and promoted by the European Commission.Already adopted by nine countries, it is hoped that the system will eventually be taken up across the whole of Europe.
