Welsh Water transforms to stay on top
Welsh Water
One of the UK's most effective water companies, Welsh Water, is an experienced outsourcer. When its IT environment began to show its age, it selected Logica to help on a massive technical transformation programme.
Welsh Water selected Logica as one of three main partners in a £40m deal lasting up to seven years. Now, Logica provides core services across the data centre, application portfolio, wide and voice network used by Welsh Water and its partners across all its sites. The new deal takes the partnership between the two companies to a new level. According to Welsh Water's head of IT Fraser Naim, the trust already built up during a previous contract from 2001 to 2005 was a key factor in Logica's selection.

"Logica were always open and easy to work with, as well as being extremely technically competent. And the fact we knew them meant we trusted them to provide the best core services to our new environment." Fraser Naim, Head of IT, Welsh Water |
When it comes to performance the client knows best, and Welsh Water says that Logica's work on the new contract has been "exemplary". By delivering frank business-orientated advice and reliable, efficient core services, Logica frees employees to do what they're paid to: keep Welsh Water in its market leadership position.
Welsh Water credits Logica for helping it achieve top-quartile performance in Ofwat's annual review, four years running. That makes it one of the best performing water companies in the UK. And with its new alliance in place, the company is confident of repeating that success into the future.
