SEPA testing

Financial institutions have worked hard to get ready to launch Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) on 28 January 2008.  Logica estimates that subsequent development and launch of the SEPA Direct Debit scheme over the next two years will require four times more testing effort than that of the SEPA Credit Transfer launch.  Logica is committed to continuous development and support for SEPA solutions and SEPA-wide testing.

Major developments within the industry will make SEPA testing particularly complex:

  • Upgrading existing systems and processes as the SEPA Credit Transfer rulebooks evolve.
  • Timely compliance with the SEPA Direct Debit rulebooks.
  • Adoption of UNIFI ISO20022 XML in the end to end payment chain.
  • Lengthy transition from paper mandates to e-mandates.
  • Further rationalisation of BBAN, IBAN and BIC.

To address this complexity and in response to the requirement for a unified testing approach for SEPA we are teaming up with SWIFT to help the European communities during SEPA implementation and in the subsequent transition period.

Logica’s SEPA test teams offer a range of testing services that include:

  • SEPA test consultancy – providing advice based on helping leading financial organisations meet their testing challenges over many years, including developing the SEPA testing framework (STF) with the EPC
  • SEPA testing assessment – providing a review of a financial institution’s strategy against EPC and PSD requirements and objectives, including the approach towards testing with financial institutions and corporate clients, as well as process and methodology optimisation
  • SEPA testing training -  providing the essential knowledge that operations and IT personnel need to implement SEPA-compliant payment systems
  • SEPA Business Acceptance Management – controlling the risks of the relationship between customers and their IT providers through formalised validation and verification throughout the SEPA programme
  • Logica’s use of SWIFT’s Simulation Testing and Qualification Service (STaQS) - tests compliance with the “core” SEPA schemes by using pre-defined sets of mandatory and optional test cases
  •  Logica’s Test Management and TestFrame™ methodology tailored for the financial sector – managing and carrying out testing using our methodology which is supported by the industry-standard testing tools of Compuware, HP Mercury and IBM Rational.

Our SEPA testing services and partnerships minimise the implementation risks and increase the cost-effectiveness of SEPA programmes, helping our customers to:

  • quickly identify complex compliance areas, avoid missing SEPA deadlines and reduce the need for costly last-minute fixes
  • confirm they are operationally ready to process SEPA-compliant transactions, reducing the risk of damaging customer complaints
  • build competitive advantage by being first to market with new SEPA products
  • implement SEPA efficiently keeping costs to a minimum.
