Supporting our communities
Our business employs 39,000 people working across 36 countries. We recognise we are part of a wider eco-system. We want to use our global presence to make a positive impact to the communities in which we live and work. Many of our people are driven by a passion to help disadvantaged communities and volunteer their skills and experience for a wider benefit.
Volunteering helps us develop new skills and experiences. It also helps us build stronger relationships with our clients. The overriding objective remains to deliver a benefit to our communities. And our people take pride in working for a company where volunteer opportunities are available.
In Brazil, we work with our client EDP to contribute to its “EDP in Schools program". This benefits students from state schools from poor areas. Our collaboration with them has been running for eight years. During this time, more than 148,000 students from 500 schools, across five states have benefitted. The schools have received tools for student learning, which promote subjects as diverse as art and energy conservation. The programme also encourages the local business community to participate.
