LIFT Data

What is LIFT?

LIFT is Logica’s Innovation for the logistics industry and in turn, the business users of the supply chain. It is an integrated platform which provides advance information services for freight transport.

What does LIFT consist of?

LIFT solution is a combination of hardware based systems which is tagged on to containers and provides real-time data, and a server solution which collates information from the container tags and creates intelligent data for the stakeholders

Can LIFT be used for tracking a multimodal shipment?

Yes, LIFT can be used for tracking shipments whether on road, rail or sea

Which stakeholders can benefit from LIFT?

All the business users of the supply chain can benefit from LIFT namely manufactures, 3 PL Service Provides, Retailers, Customs and Government Regulatory Bodies

Can LIFT be integrated with existing ERP or legacy systems of the Organization?

Yes, LIFT can be integrated with existing legacy systems using Web services

Can LIFT make the container visible real-time?

LIFT has a unique feature which tracks the cargo real time. Also there is a provision of configuring the intervals at which data has to be relayed to the backend. It could be ranging from a few minutes to hourly relay of information.

What is LBB?

The entire circuitry for tracking the containers, various types of sensors , the GPS unit and the LogiSeal is encapsulated in the box called LIFT Black Box which can be tagged on to the containers.

What are the various sensors encapsulated within LBB?

Some of the sensors which are encapsulated in the device:

  • Temperature
  • Vibration
  • GPS (LAT LONG)
  • Proximity Sensor
  • RFID Reader:
Number of RFID tagged pallets within the container (Just the total number is not sufficient. The actual EPC code of the RFID is required to be sent to the backend)

What is LogiSeal?

Pertaining to providing security related information. This unit identifies when and where the container has been opened. It detects “body heat” emissions to identify points when humans have entered the container. This is based on the proximity sensors.

  • Detects opening and closing of the container door
  • Identifies time and place of container access
  • Allows for better traceability on the activities on the container
  • Give guarantee of security of the container
  • Lesser chances of “maverick” shipments

Which communication technologies can be interfaced with LBB?

LBB can communicate with the backend server using GPRS, Wi-Fi, Zigbee and satellite. The type of technology used depends upon the cost and its availability.

What is the battery backup of LBB?

The battery can last upto 4 months, based on standard usage. Battery is also replaceable for recharge purposes.

Is LBB a sea- worthy device?

LIFT Black Box is seaworthy (conforms to IP68 standards), dust proof, water proof, durable and eco friendly.

Can the LBB detect intrusions?

Intrusions in the container can be detected using LogiSeal

How is the LBB fitted to the Container?

LIFT Black Box will be a fabricated unit which will be then fixed to the Shipping container Doors.

Is the LBB device tamper proof?

Yes, the device is also tamper proof and if someone tries to remove the device from the container, it sends alerts to the backend

Is the Track and Trace module in LIFT interfaced with Google Maps?

Yes, the track and trace module interfaces with Google Maps. The trace followed by the shipment can be seen on the map. In case of any deviation from the planned route, the actual route followed is also highlighted.

Can I see the exact route followed by my shipments?

The LIFT application indicates the planned route as well as the actual path traversed by the shipments. The various milestones are also shown on the Google Maps.

What data can be captured by LBB?

Information from various sensors, GPS Unit and LogiSeal is collected on the status of the cargo unit. Also if the contained pallets are tagged, the number of tags in the vicinity is also collated with the above data.

Do I get alerts for any deviation from the actual path?

Yes, for any deviation, the concerned stakeholders are informed by sending alerts in form of Email and SMS.

How is LIFT different from other container tracking solutions available in market?

LIFT is a solution which tracks the shipment from end to end i.e. right from the manufacturer’s site to the retailers outlet integrated with document flow across the supply chain. The other container tracking solutions only operate in some legs of the supply chain and hence don’t solve the existing problem of black hole of information.

What if the container moves in a region deprived of GPRS connectivity?

If GPRS connectivity is not there, the entire information extracted from the various sensors and LogiSeal is stored in the memory. As soon as the connectivity is established, all the accumulated data is relayed to the backend.

What types of reports can the LIFT application generate?

LIFT application has a comprehensive data base and thus by using business intelligence, a number of reports can be generated. One can know all the delayed shipments in a given time duration, containers which are stationary, containers carrying any specific item etc.

Does LIFT support shipment documentation along with shipment information?

Yes, all the documents like the Bill of lading, Bill of Entry etc are stored electronically with the shipment information. This becomes very easy for the intermediaries to exchange such information.

Can I have graphical representations of the temperature variations during the journey?

For any period, if the user wants to get the data about the temperature variations of the cold chain, he can easily retrieve the data for the respective period. Also there are indicators on the map for finding out where the temperature threshold levels were breached during the journey

What is the time frequency of data received from the LBB?

The interval is user defined and can be changed remotely. It varies from real time to hourly basis.
