Electric Vehicle Solutions

The challenge

Transportation takes us further in this world. However, transport by car is the fastest growing energy consumer and is responsible for approximately 40% of the energy consumption by each household. EV transport can change this. It is the most efficient way of transport at the moment. It is economical and has a much lower CO2 footprint, especially when using green electricity. We are convinced about the benefits of EVs have and invested in it. However, electric cars will only be possible if there are enough electric cars and charging options. A classic catch-22.

Our answer

Greener driving - We have solved this problem. We have joined hands with a number of partners and took the lead in developing an infrastructure of charging stations throughout the Netherlands. Charging stations are needed to adequately service EV drivers on the road. Only then EV will succeed.

EVs will have to offer added value to be a success. They should be affordable, offer a broad choice of cars and the battery must be able to do quite some mileage. Charging should be simple, widely available and safe. The user should be able to pay for it the way they want and privacy should be guaranteed. And what about driving pleasure? These are all critical success factors central to our vision for EVs.

Many companies, organisations and many different roles are involved in the value chain of electric vehicle charging. It is a complex situation with many different needs, services and interests. To offer the driver an easy to use service, our facilitating ICT infrastructures are based on standards and total interoperability.

Our innovative concept for charge points is already operational in different European countries - complete with technical software and the underlying systems. The possibilities are endless. We have demonstrated that it works, while showing what is possible. It provides energy retailers, travel and card companies access to new markets and consumer groups. It supplies grid owners with first class data on grid load management - so they can anticipate the effects of EVs on their business and infrastructure. This will help them make decisions to expand their infrastructure and invest in solutions. And most of all, this will help facilitate governments in their policies to reduce CO2 emissions and air pollution in densely populated areas.
