Swift Messaging Test Automation

Financial institutions are facing a number of significant challenges, and most notably in the area of regulatory change. Annual regulatory SWIFT changes impact hundreds of financial message types every year, all of which require thorough regression testing which ties up an enormous amount of valuable resources on repetitive activity.

With the ever-increasing amount of regulatory change, our clients are looking for a cost effective delivery mechanism for these changes that also assures no regression of core functionality of mission critical payments.

We wanted to improve the accuracy, speed and effectiveness of the testing process for our messaging product set. That is why we developed an automation framework which integrates its TestFrame methodology with key components of HP’s Quality Centre product suite, in unique conjunction with UI emulation tools. TestFrame provides the formal test process structure for developing test cases whilst HP’s Quick Test Professional (QTP) provides the automation navigation workhorse.

Our QTP Automation Framework allows user-defined TestFrame action words to provide a simple, navigation-independent structure to write business-oriented tests. This means that tests are focused on the business specifications not the application details.
