LogicaCMG and SKIDATA launch mobile parking

06 May 2004

Mobile phone used as entrance ticket for car parks

LogicaCMG and SKIDATA unveiled today their joint solution for ordering parking tickets - ‘mobile parking’ at the Intertraffic 2004 exhibition in Amsterdam. LogicaCMG’s mobile parking enables car drivers to be sure of securing a parking place.

The driver simply selects the car park of his choice, then orders a ticket via the telephone or the Internet and receives a mobile ticket in the form of a text message on his mobile phone. The text message contains a barcode which is scanned at the entrance of the reserved car park to gain access.

The biggest advantage of mobile parking is that searching for a parking spot is history. A parking ticket can be reserved any time, any place. Waiting lines at the entrances of car parks will also be reduced considerably..

Mobile parking is another application based on the mobile ticketing system developed by LogicaCMG. This system has already successfully been used by public transport companies Nederlandse Spoorwegen and NoordNed and for the amusement park De Efteling. Additionally a single combined mobile ticket can be used for many purposes such as an entrance ticket for sport events and a welcome drink.
