Logica appointed as gold consultancy partner by the Carbon Disclosure Project

08 March 2011

Carbon Disclosure Project recognises Logica’s capabilities in delivering business sustainability and commercial value to clients

Logica, a leading business and technology service company, today announced that it has been appointed as the first gold consultancy partner of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Through this partnership, the CDP will connect companies looking for advice and support in reducing their environmental impact to Logica’s dedicated global sustainability practice.

The CDP is recognised as a global expert in the analysis and collation of data relating to carbon and other environmental factors. The CDP is now recommending organisations wanting to reduce their environmental risks and impact and capitalise on environmental opportunities to affiliated partners within their wider ecosystem, recognised for their leadership in sustainability.

Logica has been chosen as a partner because of its track record in delivering business value to organisations looking to monitor, evaluate, tackle and reduce emissions. It has also developed new and alternative revenue streams for organisations that are looking to operate more sustainably.

For example, Logica has managed the change process for a Green IT transformation programme, on behalf of a major European manufacturer. Through careful business case assessment and a managed roll out, Logica was able to ensure that the programme translated into clear business benefits. The initiative which built upon expertise already gained from Logica’s own internal carbon reduction programme has saved €4 million and 25,000 tonnes of carbon.

Logica has been working with the CDP since 2006 and in order to be approved as a gold consultancy partner it had to provide references from a number of current clients. In the 2010 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index Logica scored 87 out of a possible 100 and has also been the top performing IT company on the FTSE 350 for the past two years.

Melba Foggo, Managing Partner, Sustainability Services, Business Consulting, Logica, said "We are very excited to be working with the CDP as a gold consultancy partner. Sustainability is a topic which we are very passionate about at Logica and we look forward to delivering new value and carbon savings to clients around the world. Our unique understanding of the difficulties involved in changing organisations operations to become more sustainable mean that we are perfectly placed to support businesses that want to tackle this issue which cannot be ignored."

Paul Dickinson, Executive Chairman, Carbon Disclosure Project, explained "We appointed Logica as our first gold consultancy partner due to the proven track record of excellent work which they have already done for clients. We look forward to working together to advance awareness of sustainability in the business community."

About Carbon Disclosure Project
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent not-for-profit organization holding the largest database of primary corporate climate change and water information in the world. Some 3,000 organizations across the world’s largest economies now measure and disclose their greenhouse gas emissions, water usage and assessment of climate change and water risk and opportunity through CDP, in order that they can set reduction targets and make performance improvements.
