Logica and Pearl Container Terminal partner to ensure effectiveness and reliability of services provided by the freight transport industry
Logica, a leading business and technology service company and Pearl Container Terminal (PCT), a ports and warehousing company that handles operations for DHL among other clients, is transforming the way supply chain management works. Using LIFT (Logica's Intelligent Freight and Transportation solution), PCT is able to offer their clients enhanced security, reduced cycle time, faster time-to-delivery and decreased operational costs.
LIFT (Logica's Intelligent Freight and Transportation solution) is Logica’s latest innovative offering for the logistics industry and in turn, the business users of the supply chain. LIFT is designed to leverage technology to ensure effective, secure and reliable transit management. It is an integrated solution which provides advance information services for freight transport.
PCT and Logica are engaged in a year long pilot that is currently in its fourth month. The pilot aims to improve the transit times of containers from ware house to ports to final destinations. In Phase 1, PCT and Logica conducted a successful field trial and went on to integrate the LIFT solution in the container transport operations for 50 containers. Phase 2 is being planned in which there will be an additional capacity of 100 containers.
LIFT is a solution which tracks the shipment from end to end i.e. right from the manufacturer’s site to the retailers outlet integrated with document flow across the supply chain. At the heart of the LIFT system is a small electronic device that is tagged on to the container. This device provides real time data to the business users of the logistics supply chain. The sophisticated technology makes it possible for up-to-the-minute tracking of a container, all along the supply chain route.
