SAP Profitability analysis
Profitability Analysis (COPA) enables you to evaluate market segments that are classified according to products, customers, orders or any combination of these, or strategic business units, such as sales organisations or business areas, with respect to your company’s profit or contribution margin. The aim of this controlling reporting module is to provide your sales, marketing, product management and corporate planning departments with information to support internal accounting and decision-making.
We provide the expertise that will drive business benefits from CO-PA using the following services:
1. Full implementation of Profitability Analysis
Our extensive knowledge of Profitability Analysis means that we understand the nature of your business and can determine a solution that effectively satisfies your management reporting requirements. We support clients in the following areas:
Data structures: The development of the correct characteristic and value fields are essential to the success of your CO-PA implementation. Logica will assist in determining the key reporting data elements (characteristics) along specific cost and revenue lines (value fields).
Data flows: The transaction flow into CO-PA represents the most important source of information to CO-PA. The following documents can be transferred to CO-PA:
- SD billing, integrating with your product
- Costing system
- Order & project settlement
- Direct postings from FI and MM
- Costs can be assessed & distributed from cost centres, orders and projects.
Planning strategy: In CO-PA Planning, you can create a sales and profit plan. With the automatic planning feature, it is possible to copy and revaluate actual or planning data for a large number of profitability segments at once. You can also transfer planned sales quantities from (costing-based) CO-PA to sales and operations planning (SOP) to create a production plan.
Information systems: The Information System lets you interactively analyse existing data from a profitability standpoint using the functions of the drilldown reporting tool. You can navigate through a multi-dimensional “data cube” using a number of different functions (such as drilldown or switching hierarchies). Reports can be summarised to enable best utilisation of data for performance.
2. Generating more value from your existing Profitability Analysis structure
Your organisation may have implemented Profitability Analysis many years ago, but are you getting the benefits of all the rich functionality? We can assist you with:
- Reviewing your data structures to account for changes to your organisation
- Increasing the data flows to CO-PA to provide more detailed information
- Implementing a planning strategy to produce an integrated or stand-alone planning information from which performance can be measured
- Developing an Information Systems Strategy to support Management Reporting requirements
- Advice on the use of additional tools such as summarisation levels, authorisation levels and where these are applicable within your organisation.
Approach
Stage 1 – Requirements Development
Logica will discuss the requirements with the key decision makers within your organisation & prepare a fully costed estimate.
Stage 2 – Configuration & Development
After agreement is received to commence with the development, our developers will apply changes and unit test within your Development systems. The development is then applied to your quality assurance systems.
Stage 3 – Testing
Your organisation will be heavily involved in testing the development to ensure that these changes have the desired effect. We will support you through this phase.
Stage 4 – Data Management
We will support you in amending the important master data records in line with agreement and expectations.
Stage 5 – Go-Live
Changes will be applied to your organisation’s production system in line with agreement and expectations.
