Logica, a leading business and technology service company, has announced that Team Excalibur, a consortium also comprising MASS (a Cohort plc company) and SRC, Inc., formerly Syracuse Research Corporation, has been awarded the contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) for the delivery of Project SHEPHERD.
SHEPHERD is a strategically important project for the UK Ministry of Defence and will enable significant improvements in the delivery of the Electronic Warfare information that is so important to modern operations. At a time when military forces have to meet many challenges, SHEPHERD will provide the Defence Electronic Warfare Centre (DEWC) with a crucial step-change in automated end-to-end capability that will support improved situational awareness and platform protection through the provision of increased spectrum dominance.
Team Excalibur will upgrade the UK Defence Electronic Warfare Database and provide a suite of state of the art Electronic Warfare Operational Support tools. Under Logica’s systems integration leadership this will be achieved by harnessing the class-leading capabilities of our team members, including MASS who are providing advanced data management and SRC providing specialist data analysis tools.
Steve Smart, Managing Director of Logica Space and Defence said "This contract win is testament to our ability to deliver substantial improvements in EW Operational Support capability and supporting our defence forces on operations. Project SHEPHERD has potential for wider exploitation, both within the UK and with our important defence allies and we look forward to working with the MOD on these initiatives.”
Ashley Lane, Managing Director of MASS said "The SHEPHERD programme will deliver a world-leading capability to the DEWC, thus ensuring our front line forces will have the latest and most up to date electronic warfare protection in theatre. I am really proud that at the heart of the solution will be UK technology in the form of our THURBON EW Data Management System.”
“Our extensive history in EW will bring critical assets to Team Excalibur in developing capabilities for the MOD to better equip their military force on the EW battlefield,” stated Paul Tremont, SRC President. “We are confident that this team will meet the challenging MOD requirements and deliver a state-of-the-art solution”.
