Energy Management
Learning to use less
With high energy prices, the case for using less energy is clear. But the real struggle for most organisations is making it happen. How do you get people to change the way they live and work every day?
The key is to give people real-time information on how much energy they're using, with technology like smart meters.
But technology alone isn't enough. What we do is make it more convenient, intuitive and engaging, so people genuinely want to use it.
For example, we came up with an award-winning energy saving scheme for Växjö Energi in Sweden. We built an online tool that lets people see how much energy they're using in their homes-and what their neighbours are using. Before long everybody was competing to use the least energy. It's this insight into human behaviour that makes all the difference.
We're using that same insight to create similar tools for public sector organisations in the UK.
We've managed the installation of automated meters, and we provide convenient, online half-hourly data on energy and water consumption for each of their locations.
It means people can easily forecast their carbon emissions to comply with the UK Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme.
We're coming up with new ideas all the time. From ways to encourage people to drive more efficiently, to smart lighting systems that save money and make our streets safer.
