Why Logica chose GreenRiders

It was a tough decision but our judges knew they had found one outstanding entry- GreenRiders

Logica launched the Sustainability Stories competition 3 months ago to find the one project that we could help with €20,000 worth of consulting. We believe that the path to the future is through innovating now, so we set up www.sustainability-stories dedicated to projects from around the world.

We had 73 competition entries for our judges (Vodafone, University College of London, Microsoft, GreenMonk, the Club of Budapest and Logica) to assess.

Read on to find out why GreenRiders swept the judging panel away.

Innovation
There are several car sharing apps on the market but this one goes further by allowing users to share transportation across personal car journeys, car rental and even taxi journeys. It fits really nicely with popular trend of collaborative consumption where people are starting to share, swap and rent products as opposed to owning them.

Impact
The online and mobile app saves users money as they share the cost of the journey but also reduce the need for parking. In addition, users can measure their CO2 footprint and see their individual impact. This is particularly useful for companies as organisations can calculate and accurately report their CO2 according to GRI standards..

Bringing people together
GreenRiders brings people together in their journey, to chat, share ideas and experiences. From their current user base of 4000 people, GreenRiders say this is by far the element that people appreciate the most. Zeljko Boskovic, Chairman of the Board at GreenRiders explained, “We offer a simple solution for a really complex problem, especially in towns where public transportation isn’t always available. I believe that a solution that brings people together can have a positive effect and make a difference on a global scale.”

Future plans
The ambition is to grow the company, both in terms of users and expand internationally. Logica can help through consultancy expertise to create a strategic roadmap, make the right introductions to partners, and open doors to give GreenRiders global reach. Our runners up
The judges were also really impressed with the two runners-up – Nudge from the Netherlands which takes citizen-driven ideas to help drive sustainability, and UK’s Workzmarter which uses technology to assist people, like mothers or the disabled, work from home. We’ll be telling you more about their work in our next couple of blogs so keep tuning in.
