To judge or not to judge…
It’s been a really interesting week with 74 stories on
www.sustainability-stories.com and only one winner to pick across 6 countries.
The judges will be evaluating each story against four criteria: Innovation, Impact, Bringing people together and Future plans.
What do these words mean? Well, we are looking for stories that show new and novel ways of thinking about old problems. Then we want to make sure that we can measure the benefits to society- these could be social, environmental or financial. Since Logica also stands for being an ecosystem player, we’re looking for a winner that brings people together and finally we want a project that has guts and ambition to grow. Not asking for much then!
On Monday morning we had our first meeting with the judges to showcase the stories and they were impressed by the variety, passion and vision. Amongst our judges, Prof. Mark Maslin from University College of London was a supporter of crowd-sourcing projects and wanted to see big, bold ideas. Then we had Tom Raftery from GreenMonk who was keen to see stories that were able to step beyond the usual energy saving or recycling measures and demonstrate how they were influencing behaviours. And that is what is so great about sustainability stories, as they get everyone talking.
We’ll be picking a winner from our shortlist this week and announcing it on Tuesday 19th June. One winner will get 20,000 Euros worth of consulting from Logica and we hope to make a real difference. I personally wish we could help more than one project but I guess that is what competitions are all about.
Having said that, I hope every story realises that they are a winner. By sharing your stories, you inspire others. By promoting your work, you make your friends, family and colleagues proud. By being part of a community, we can all make a change together. It’s great that we are building up an ecosystem where ideas can thrive. Keep sharing your stories.
I look forward to writing more about the winner in my blog next week.
