Sustainable Mobility
Moving people and products
Transport still accounts for most of the growth in demand for oil. So changing the way we travel and ship goods is key to cutting fuel costs and CO2 emissions.
Businesses and governments alike are pushing for change. The EU's strategy for a competitive transport system (Transport 2050) will:
- increase mobility
- stimulate growth
- reduce dependence on imported oil
- cut carbon emissions in transport by 60% by 2050.
We work with governments, car companies, transport companies, businesses that use transport and energy suppliers to come up with creative ways to shape and promote sustainable transport.
But to get people to change their behaviour you have to make it easier - or even fun - to make greener choices.
In Helsinki, for example, we designed an award-winning online travel planner that uses real-time information to help people find the quickest way to get where they're going - including walking and cycling.
It's not only cutting carbon, but also about reducing costs by easing congestion and cutting calls to the transport authority's call centres.
In the Netherlands, we've worked with e-laad.nl on a system to manage a nationwide network of charging stations for electric cars. It makes it easy for electric car drivers to power up. And it's all run in the cloud, so e-laad are saving money on things like servers and software.
And across Europe, we're fitting trucks with on-board equipment that not only measure how much CO2 and fuel their drivers are using in real-time - but sends messages to the driver telling them how they can drive greener.
Because we work with so many sectors, we can actually cut CO2 emissions and energy costs across your entire supply chain.
