Logica launches its first Spark Innovation Centre in Portugal
Real-life show cases on advanced metering infrastructure and intelligent grids, GIS, wind-farms management and metering & billing solutions demonstrate Logica´s vision and offerings for current and future utilities challenges.
Logica today launches its first Spark Innovation Centre in Lisbon, Portugal. The centre is the first of many that will be situated around the globe, demonstrating innovative solutions from Logica. The centre in Portugal, focused on Energy & Utilities, comprises a set of vanguard technology demonstrations for the electricity, water and gas industries. The solutions combine competences in Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Intelligent Grids, wind-farms management systems, Geographical Information Systems, Asset Management and Metering & Billing solutions (SAP-ISU and UBS, a vertical solution based on Oracle technology). For the event Logica has invited first class local university representatives and more than 20 college professors and selected students from all over country.
The E&U Innovation Centre has been created with three main goals: 1) promote Logica’s technology and know-how for electricity, water and gas industries 2) allow local and international clients, partners and universities to experiment with this technology developed in Portugal and 3) integrate in the same physical room a series of showcases which demonstrate integrated Logica´s vision and offer for current and future utilities challenges.

Logica Iberia won 18 multiyear outsourcing contracts with water companies in Portugal during 2007 and now manages the billing systems of more than 70 supplier water companies in Portugal, supporting 2,500 end users and covering 55% of consumers in the country. Energias de Portugal has chosen Logica for the provision of the control and management system for 48 wind farms, covering approximately 1,000 wind generators, across Iberia.
