The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) made the strategic decision to outsource its IT operations to Logica. Today, FMV has a modern, efficient and reliable IT support with more mobile operations.FMV was established in 1968 and plays a key role in Sweden’s security.
What FMV Needed
FMV plays an important role in Sweden’s security. As the Swedish Armed Forces’ procurement organisation, its mission is to deliver materiel and modern technology to meet the Armed Forces’ needs in a cost-efficient manner.
The Challenge
Due to the high security and confidentiality requirements inherent in FMV’s operations places, the operation’s IT activities are subject to even greater demands. What supplier could match the complexity of FMV’s IT system and moreover offer cost-effective solutions? In 2006, FMV concluded a three-year outsourcing agreement with Logica. FMV elected to purchase all IT operations from Logica as a total service delivery controlled by a Service Level Agreement (SLA). FMV thus gained access to Logica’s development capacity and to certain standardised services.
The Solution
Logica took over all IT activities – from server and application operations and communications services to Service Desk and Desktop Lifecycle Management – and began supplying services from one of its data centres. FMV’s secure client workplace delivered by Logica as a service became the solution to FMV’s mobility requirement
The Result
FMV now has modern, efficient and reliable IT support. Operations are more mobile and the employees no longer have to go to the office to be able to work. Overall, this contributes to FMV being able to focus wholly on its own core operations. The contract between Logica and FMV was concluded in 2006 for a three-year period and was extended in 2009 through 2012.
