Making the future a reality

“Something that felt right from the outset was this sense of partnership and Logica’s willingness to adapt and be flexible. In terms of working with Logica I’d say to another authority: Trust them.”  Simon Bavin, Project Enterprise Manager, Warrington Borough Council, United Kingdom.

The challenge

Many European governments are transforming the way they operate, are focused on meeting the increasing expectations of their citizens and need to grow their local economies. They want the Public Sector of the future to look something like this:

Police officers and justice magistrates work with the same tools. Electronic identification of citizens is managed securely. Local hospitals provide high quality monitoring for patients wherever they are. All citizens have access to useful services 24/7, without having to queue up at a local office. Students and professors discuss and interact online in a dedicated environment. Public services that previously took weeks get delivered in a few days. Local entities are supported by cost efficient shared services. Unexpected demands are easily handled by flexible systems. Governments listen to citizens in real time to serve them best.

For NATO , standardisation and data exchange are the keys to improved efficiency and costeffectiveness – and very often NATO acts as a forerunner for its member states. Together with us, NATO is now setting new standards in document management for the transfer of expertise. The new Logica system – used as a ‘core service’ – is now putting part of NATO ’s long-term knowledge management strategy into actual practice.

The National eHealth strategy is vital to developing and improving the efficiency of the Swedish healthcare system. We were entrusted by Inera and Sweden’s county councils and regions with the task of developing and administrating the national security infrastructure – Säkerhetstjänsterna (Security Services). It is an invisible but invaluable network for healthcare and social care at the local, regional and national levels.

In order to meet tough productivity and cost saving targets, the cities of Helsinki and Vantaa decided to reduce the use of paper and redesign hierarchical and overlapping processes. Thanks to our electronic HR services and HR self-service tools, they have managed to improve staff productivity and achieved their cost-saving targets.
