Public Safety and Justice

“All expectations and projections about the rollout of Burgernet have been surpassed. Burgernet works!” Ivo Opstelten, Minister of Security & Justice, Netherlands

The Challenge

Organisations that provide services for public safety and justice have a lot to gain from using technology innovatively and effectively.

These organisations need:

  • cost-effective services: these should be well-managed and secure
  • a citizen-centric approach: so that they can engage with citizens better
  • lower operating costs: combined with better service quality
  • innovation: modern technology without extra investment
  • co-operation: to network with other agencies in the sector and safely share data.

Our answer

You’re eager to innovate faster, adopt more efficient general working practices and make operations as modern as possible. There are a number of ways in which we can help. Through smart, innovative and joined-up solutions.

Like we did for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in England and Wales. We introduced a national electronic case management system and recently rolled out secure mobile devices to support prosecutors working in court.

Throughout the programme we have worked closely with the CPS to ensure the technology-enabled business change delivers tangible business benefits.

Did you know?

  • Community policing (Burgernet) in the Netherlands is a great success thanks to Logica, with more than one million people in 382 municipalities participating.
  • We provide 150,000 police officers in France with modern IT tools to help them in their investigations.
  • A Logica-led consortium has won a 10 year outsourcing contract to deliver the UK Serious Organised Crime Agency’s ICT and related services.
  • We provide the UK Crown Prosecution Service with the technology to prosecute over 15 million defendants.
  • We have designed, built and currently operate the Police National Database (PND) serving all UK police forces. In 2012 the number of searches on the PND had exceeded one million since it went live.
