Logica Sweden provides cloud service for teacher registration
On 15 May 2012, Logica Sweden signed an agreement with the municipality of Uppsala to provide this BPO service.
The agreement is for 5 years and covers about 10,000 employees. The service is based on our Heroma HRO product and ProCompetence, and will be delivered as a service via the Internet. The scope of the contract includes systems integration, the provision of web-based IT support, and the operation and maintenance of the system to support teacher registration.
In Sweden, there is an increasing focus on formal teacher qualifications. Due to new rules, the eligibility requirements are increasing and there is a need to maintain up to date lists of teacher competencies. It is important for an employer to have an up to date record of the skills of its current employees, which also helps with making decisions about recruitment.
The Uppsala municipality will use the system to support recruitment, and to provide the right skills training. This will both help ensure the quality of teaching and that the municipality is seen as an attractive employer.
Håkan Sandberg, HR manager of Uppsala, says: “There are several qualification systems on the market but we chose Logica because they have a system that is well ahead in terms of teacher competence, which was crucial for us. In a large organisation such as ours it’s important to have full control over training, skills planning and the tracking of competency shortfalls. It is an IT solution that has an overview at the individual level as well as meeting the organisation's needs as a whole.”
ProCompetence facilitates the analysis of available skills and can identify what skills are disappearing, for example due to teacher retirement, as well as what skills will be in demand in the future. This will allow skills development needs to be identified to meet the objectives of the organisation.
