Award winning success for Logica and Transport Scotland

23 November 2010

Logica’s smart ticketing project with Transport Scotland , one of the biggest in the world, last night won the Best Transport Partnership of the Year award at the 2010 Scottish Transport Awards, in Glasgow.

The award marks the successful end of a four year project to introduce smart ticketing infrastructure for Scotland’s £180 million concessionary travel scheme.

Transport Scotland and Logica worked together to implement the largest ITSO ticketing scheme in the world. The project involved the installation of new electronic ticket machines on 7,000 buses in Scotland, depot systems at over 200 bus operator sites and a back-office reimbursement system processing 12 million journeys every month.

Jeremy Springall, Business Director for Transport & Infrastructure at Logica, said, “Scotland is leading the way in the innovative use of smart ticketing and this award highlights the benefits which can be brought to passengers from the technology. Winning Best Transport Partnership is a great accolade for the joint team.”
