EDP Brazil adjusts to the regulations with SAP’s IS-U/CCS

Operating in Brazil since 1996, EDP has quickly positioned itself as a major energy company in the country, acting as an investment holding company in the industry with assets of generation, distribution, and sale of electricity. Worldwide, EDP is present in twelve countries across five continents.

With the Normative Regulation Nr. 414 of Aneel (National Electric Power Agency) about how to relate with consumers, EDP Brazil saw the need to improve and enhance the use of SAP IS-U/CCS implemented in the company since 2005.

EDP invested in deploying a solution adhering to the features already used by SAP’s IS-U/CCS modules, thereby allowing to conform to the Resolution Nr. 414, in addition to bringing a number of benefits to the application users, as well as performance and compliance. The entire implementation process relied on Logica’s partnership.

IS-U/CCS is the utilities’ tool within SAP Customer Care and Services (CCS) that performs the business processes within an utilities enterprise in two core business processes: consumption management and revenue collection. The system allows a flexible way to create application for meter reading, production of meter reading order, and billing, among other actions.

“SAP’s IS-U/CCS has brought us many benefits, especially in the item of meeting all Aneel’s requirements. With it, we not only took benefits to our customers, but also brought many conveniences to our users with Systemic integrations.”
- Vanderlei Ferreira, Executive Manager of Information Technology and Communication, EDP Brazil

With SAP’s IS-U/CCS, EDP processes gained automatic integrations, such as master data validations and consumption reports per class and periods. Currently, the company runs more than 140,000 invoices of energy consumption per night, an average of 7 hours per chain, featuring a huge performance gain.
